The mission of the DoD Velociter Program is to support transition & commercialization of DoD SBIR/STTR technology by providing innovators with entrepreneurial training, commercialization mentorship, and engagement with potential end users, customers, or investors.

What to Expect

    Who is this program for?

    • Our self-paced online training is free and available to anyone.
    • To participate in the DoD Velociter program, you must either have:
      • A DoD SBIR or STTR Phase I contract with a period-of-performance start date between August 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017 (applications currently closed)
      • An active DoD SBIR or STTR Phase II contract (applications currently closed); or,
      • A DoD SBIR or STTR Phase II contract that closed after 1 October 2014 (applications currently closed).

    What should you expect?

    • Phase I Program Features: 
      • Hands-on Instruction in the principles of evidence-based entrepreneurship; 
      • Additional assistance/activities designed to prepare for Phase II and beyond, including:
        • Phase II proposal preparation process;
        • Development of a commercialization plan;
        • Cost proposals and Business Structure; and,
        • Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
    • Phase II Program Features:
      • Hands-on Instruction in the principles of evidence-based entrepreneurship;
      • Access to Subject Matter Experts in areas such as government contracting, IP,  DCAA;
      • Primary customer research/interviews guided by best practices in entrepreneurship education; and,
      • Engagement with potential end users in the government/commercial sectors.
    • Requirements

      • You and your team MUST be able to dedicate 10-15 hours a week for up to 4 weeks
      • Accepted applicants will be required to submit additional information including a Quad Chart and Pitch Deck (templates will be provided if required)
      • We HIGHLY recommend participation as a team (2-4 people)
